Equipment 08P6001: Liquid sulfur export pump. This rotating equipment presented a large number of failures associated with leaks due to its mechanical seal, failures which caused a negative impact on the environment and generated unsafe conditions for the area's operational personnel. That is why METAX Venezuela installs in this pump a reliable mechanical seal which consists of a chamber and a steam injection to the faces of the seal (API Plan 02 and API Plan 62), in order to guarantee the permanence of sulfur in a liquid state in the interior of the mechanical device and thus preserve the internal spring thereof. It is important to note that currently the Mechanical Seal installed by Metax Venezuela has numerous hours of service without presenting product leakage to the environment, which improves to 100% the operational reliability of the sulfur plants of the PetroCedeño Crude Improver.

Equipment 61-P-001A / B Crude Oil Charge Pump. The pump suffered from high failure rates and high equipment maintainability, with low reliability indicators, which caused unexpected stops and high costs to PDVSA in maintaining wet mechanical seals, combined with losses in the production of Crude in the Petropiar Improver. Therefore, a test was performed with the METAX mechanical seal, improving the previous seal plan (API 11/52) to a new sealing system (API 11 / 53C), this experience confirmed that the new Metax sealing technology exceeded previous technology, this in terms of reliability indicators and hours of service (4800 hours of reliability ie 200 days of continuous operation) without failure of the pump by leaks, eliminating in turn any impact to the environment, and technically justifying the procurement and installation Metax Mechanical seals on the pumps belonging to the Petropiar Crude Improver.
